Surprised by the teacher

It’s one of the inspiring things about EXIT tour. You never know who God has prepared to receive the truth of the gospel. Every tour is different. And there is usually someone God has waiting. If you are not acquainted with what EXIT is, it is a very special outreach project, where we visit public schools in Slovakia.
This time, it was Alexandra. And to our surprise, she wasn’t a student, but a teacher! Usually teachers are not even in the classroom during the EXIT lectures. But as we taught the “Divorce prevention” or “Healthy family” lecture, Alexandra was on the front row, among 50 High School students. During the lecture we talk about how we all have a dream of a happy marriage and family. But the path to it is not easy. It doesn’t happen automatically. And there are many ways you can destroy your dream even before you get close.
When the lecture was over she approached and began to thank us for the lecture and explain why it was meaningful for her. She basically said, that everything that we had warned the students could break down the family, she had already done. Now she was suffering the consequences.
We listened to her for a few minutes and then some more over lunch in the school cafeteria. But it didn’t take long to realize that she was in deep marriage and family crisis.
We finally told her, “we can’t even begin to understand or advise you on your deep problems. But we know the best person to help. It’s Jesus. And the best advice we can give is to stop trying to solve your problems yourself and give your tangled life to
him”. In tears she agreed and we all prayed together a prayer of surrender and cry for help over the cafeteria table. And later we introduced her to a local Christian woman from a local church, who could keep walking with her on this new path.
Who could have ever imagined it? A teacher gets rescued by a lecture prepared for students!
Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
